Rift /
Developed as a map for the final DLC pack of Black Ops 3, set on an active volcano, aiming to facilitate a fast-paced, action-intensive gameplay experience. The core layout employs a simplified three-lane topology. To integrate the new movement mechanics promoted by Black Ops 3, particularly wall running and curved surfaces, I designed a prominent cylindrical tunnel serving as a flank route. While this flank exposes players, it introduces strategic surprise elements. This feature balances the surrounding exposed platform, which is reinforced by two opposing windows providing overwatch for each team.
For the remaining lanes, I explored confined path designs utilizing train environments as core mediums. One lane features open flatcars bordered by adjacent structures and other trains, allowing for diverse wall running shortcuts. The opposing lane is modeled after a vehicle interior, characterized by a claustrophobic environment with a single entry and exit point, contrasting with the open, shortcut-rich flatcar lane.
Stronghold /
Stronghold is my first publicly showcased Black Ops 3 map. Its primary inspiration derives from Modern Warfare 2’s Estate map, though notable divergences exist. Recreating Estate would not fully leverage BO3’s advanced wall running capabilities. To exploit these mechanics creatively, I designed a map featuring a modern residence situated on a cliff ledge, facilitating vertical traversal via wall running. This environment presents multiple opportunities for dynamic movement and strategic engagement.
Cryogen /
Cryogen is set on an oil rig repurposed into a detention facility. The map design emphasizes distinct, fully differentiated lanes. One lane is exclusively wall-run oriented, crossing a deep abyss, promoting vertical and high-mobility gameplay. The second lane provides an interior corridor environment, while the third encompasses an exterior open area. The convergence point where these three lanes intersect forms a dynamic gameplay delta, creating engaging spatial interactions and strategic depth.
